Drums - Industrial

Requirement: 30% postconsumer HDPE or
100% postconsumer paper or
16% postconsumer steel

Availability: Industrial steel drums automatically contain recycled steel so 16% is easy to achieve. The poison inhalation hazard drums purchased by the Pacific Northwest National Lab contain a minimum of 25% recycled steel. The main problem seems to be for sites trying to purchase fiber drums with 100% recycled content. The Y 12 National Security Complex (Anne Ostergaard) found one supplier with tops and bottoms of their fiber drums containing recycled content but not the side walls. To purchase these Sonoco/Greif drums with recycled content in at least the tops and bottoms, contact Katie Maupin (Tel. (866) 422-6356).
