This modified RCRA Orientation for Facility Managers satisfies two objectives. First,
it provides persons that may be interested in attending (or having one of their staff attend)
the three-day course with an opportunity to examine similar course materials to ascertain whether
the three-day course will meet their individual needs. Second, if the three-day course goes
beyond their needs, this course furnishes an introduction to RCRA that may serve as a
cost-effective alternative to attending the three-day workshop.
Although it is based on and consists of the training course originally developed for Nuclear
Safety Managers, HS-20 believes that this version constitutes an appropriate introduction to
RCRA for any/all mid-level managers. It is not, however, intended to serve as a substitute for
the complete three-day RCRA Orientation Workshop. The PDF Handout files have been
retrofitted to function as self-study courseware and, therefore, are now equipped with
hypertext links to additional Internet-accessible electronic resources; many of which are
likewise formatted as PDF files. In general, additional Internet resources can be accessed
directly from within each self-study module. Upon selecting and accessing (in Adobe
Acrobat) the PDF Handout file of greatest interest, users scrolling through the module will
encounter blue and green italicized terms and phrases in both the
slides and narrative discussions. Where feasible, these highlighted terms and phrases function as
hypertext links to internally-prepared Internet resources or external resources such as
Federal Registers and Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs).
