DOE Order 436.1, Departmental Sustainability

This training is designed to supplement DOE line managers' understanding of what is required of them in implementing DOE Order 436.1, Departmental Sustainability. The training focuses on their responsibilities to integrate sustainability in DOE's missions and to establish the processes for achieving or exceeding the Department's sustainability goals.

SSO, with Under Secretaries' and SPO support: - establishes Departmental sustainability goals - reports goal progress in the SSPP
Under Secretaries support SSO: - manage goal achievement through Field Managers - develop composite sustainability plans based on Field Managers' site sustainability plans - reports goal progress in the SSPP
PSOs: - review SSPs - develop or aid development of composite sustainability plans - prepare budget allocation
Field Managers record planned actions (projects and practices) and sustainable outcomes in reflecting EMS objectives and targets that contribute to achieving DOE missions and Departmental sustainability goals
