Security Director's Meeting
June 22 - 23, 2009 at Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, NM
We are pleased to announce that the Office of Health, Safety and Security (HSS), in partnership
with the National Nuclear Security Administration, Energy and Science, will host a joint meeting for
all DOE Security Directors and members of the Nuclear Security Information Exchange the week of June 22.
The joint meeting will consist of two half-day sessions held Monday afternoon, June 22, from 1:00 to
5:00 PM and Tuesday morning, June 23, from 8:00 AM to noon. The meeting will be held at
Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM in building 962 (at the intersection of 9th St. and S Ave).
Additionally, NNSA and NSIE are scheduling other meetings this week (specifically, there will be meetings
for NSIE on Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon, and for NNSA on Wednesday and Thursday).
Parking is available in front of the fenced area outside the building.
As we continue our planning for the joint meeting on June 22 and 23, we want to include agenda
topics that will be of interest to you, your program and your site. We feel that this meeting is
important and timely given the realities of our Nation's energy, economic and national security.
Now is the time to examine, through an open and participative dialogue, our risk management philosophy
and approach to our protection strategy. Given this theme, the key drivers of our discussion will focus on:
- Graded Security Protection Policy
- Graded Safeguards Table
- Security Policy and Orders
- Oversight

To offset the cost of the refreshments planned for Monday and Tuesday, we are requesting that each
participant contribute $11.00 at the time of registration on Monday. Refreshments will include a
mid-afternoon break on Monday, morning refreshments prior to the meeting on Tuesday and a mid-morning break.
Due to the other meetings planned for Tuesday afternoon, we have arranged for a lunch option for Tuesday
(and Tuesday only) if there is enough interest. The lunch option, a "build-your-own-sandwich", will
cost $8.00 and will need to be reserved and paid for at the time of registration.
We encourage you to register for this meeting as soon as possible using the on-line registration
link on this page. Additionally, we have arranged for a block of rooms, at the government per
diem rate of $80 per night, at the Albuquerque Marriott. To take advantage of this block rate,
