Natural Phenomena Symposium to Address Risk Reduction

The DOE Oakland Operations Office (OAK) teamed with DOEžs Natural Phenomena Hazards (NPH) Safety Project to conduct a 1-day "Natural Phenomena Symposium for California and Nevada DOE Sites" that will address Department-wide progress in reducing the impact of natural phenomena hazards to DOE sites. The symposium, sponsored by DOE's Office of Risk Analysis and Technology (EH-33), is scheduled for November 17, 1994, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Oakland Federal Building's Roybal Auditorium, in Oakland CA.

DOE sites in California and Nevada have been invited to give a 45-minute presentation highlighting structural damages caused by the following recent natural phenomena.

These presentations will describe mitigative actions taken to reduce the impact of NPH hazards at each site. A panel session to facilitate DOE- wide interaction will conclude the symposium. To register, fax your name, organization, address, and phone number to Dawn Matz (LLNL) at (510) 423-2163.
