Safety Management Through Analysis

DOE Environment, Safety and Health
Performance Measures

-

The Department of Energy increasingly relies on performance measurement as a way to determine its Environment, Safety and Health performance, to answer the critical questions:

  • What are the impacts of DOE activities?
  • Is DOE Getting Safer?
  • What are the major safety, health and environmental vulnerabilities that should be addressed?

We use the Operating Experience Analysis Template to guide performance measurement. Here we provide information useful for developing performance measurement programs, accessing Performance Indicator (PI) data, benchmarking customer PI programs, and assessing Departmental HSS performance:

-

--DOE Quarterly HSS
PI Reports
DOE-wide Environment, Safety
and Health performance.

-

--Performance Based Management - Special Interest Group
Group activities and products to facilitate performance based management.
--Secretarial Officer and
Site Data
HSS performance data for
DOE units.
--Performance Measurement Documentation - 2002 - 2003
DOE documents on performance measurement.
--Performance Indicator
Data System (PIDS)
Database used to prepare
the DOE Quarterly HSS PI
Report. Access currently limited
to DOE and its contractors.
Contact Samuel Rosenbloom at

--The Secretary's Performance Agreement with the President
The Secretary's commitments and
Key Performance Measures.
--DOE Contract Performance Measures
