DOE/PE-0051 Issue No. 9 May 1984
(Formerly DOE/EP-0031)

NEW LOCKOUT DEVICE FOR INDIVIDUAL CIRCUIT BREAKERS

A new device* to lockout individual 120-volt circuit breakers can be seen on
power panels throughout DOE's Savannah River plant. An excellent safety
improvement, the device also saves time and manpower since it permits a job
to be completed without locking out an entire panel and allows an individual
mechanic to troubleshoot a system without requiring another worker to guard
the breaker.

The device, illustrated in its approximate size below, is made of aluminum
stock and 3/32" diameter stainless steel rod. Detailed drawings for
fabrication and assembly are provided on the reverse side.

  * Patent pending. The inventor, W. T. Gordy, is employed by E.I. DuPont
De Nemours & Company, which operates the Savannah River plant.
