Consistent with the new organizational structure for Defense Programs (NA-10) and

other organizational changes within NA- 10, this letter documents the transfer of

responsibility for National Nuclear Security Administration Nuclear Safety Research and

Development from the Assistant Deputy Administrator for Facility and Infrastructure

Acquisition and Operation (NA-17), Michael Thompson, to the Director, Office of

Stockpile Assessment and Certification (NA-11 S), Dr. Kevin Greenaugh. This transfer of

responsibility will include the duties of chairman of the Nuclear Safety Research and

Development Coordinating Group and leading the Department of Energy implementation

of 2004-1 Implementation Plan Commitments 7 and 8. Should you have questions or
