LETTERHEAD]
September 13, 2006
Mr. Jeffrey M. Allison
Manager, Savannah River Operations Office
Department of Energy
P. O. Box A
Aiken, South Carolina 29803
Dear Mr. Allison:
On behalf of the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (Board), I would like to offer my sincere thanks and appreciation to Amy Poston for her dedicated service
as the Department of Energy’s (DOE) liaison to the Board at the Savannah River Site from 1993 to 2006.
Amy has been
instrumental in keeping
the interface between the Board and the Savannah River Site personnel working smoothly for more than a
decade. The Board’s meetings and tours
at the site have consistently been well planned and executed. Amy’s personal involvement in hundreds of staff visits, conference calls, video conferences, and information requests ensured they were productive for both sides and that any problems that arose were quickly resolved. Furthermore,
Amy was extremely helpful in resolving the logistical issues associated with
establishing and maintaining our site
office at the Savannah River
Site.
The liaison position requires
an individual who can effectively interact
with the management of several organizations,
coordinate multiple activities, and keep the large number of administrative demands under control. With these skills, I am sure that Amy will make an outstanding
contribution in her new assignment as a Public Affairs Specialist in the Office of External Affairs. Please accept my personal thanks for her time and efforts as your liaison to us. I
wish her every success in her
new assignment.
Sincerely,
A. J. Eggenberger
Chairman
