SUBJECT:                               Establishment of DOE 2005-1 Technical Review Board

 

On August 17, 2005, the Secretary of Energy approved the DOE Implementation Plan (IP) that addresses Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) Recommendation 2005-1, Nuclear Materials Packaging.  The IP establishes requirements for an independent Technical Review Board to provide a disciplined peer review of the products developed by the DOE 2005-1 Working Group.

 

Per the Implementation Plan, as the Responsible Manager, I have selected the following individuals to serve as the Technical Review Board.  These individuals will report to me as the Responsible Manager.

• Roland Felt, DOE-EH/IDAHO
• John Psaras, Consultant
• Kirk Veirs, Los Alamos National Lab
• Dana Willaford. DOE-Oak Ridge

 

The Technical Review Board will provide documented review comments and assessments of Working Group products to me for disposition.  In the event that the Technical Review Board does not achieve consensus, minority comments or differing comments will be sent to me for resolution

 

I will be contacting you in the near future to schedule your reviews.
