Dear Mr. Chairman:

 

In your letter of July 9, 2003, you requested that our site offices report on the scope and periodicity of the contractor training assessment conducted as required by Department of Energy Order 5480.20A.  In a letter dated October 2, 2003, I indicated that the Department of Energy Livermore Site Office would complete its training assessment of contractors by May 6, 2004.  The National Nuclear Safety Administration Service Center has notified the Livermore Site Office that they will not be able to support that assessment until June 2004, because of their ongoing support for various Operational Readiness Reviews.  The Livermore Site Office Manager has informed me that it is therefore necessary to move the completion date of the training assessment to August 6, 2004.
