The purpose of this letter is to forward to
you Revision 2 to the Savannah River Site
High Level Waste Tank In-Service Inspection Program. This revised document incorporates the revised schedule to
inspect all of the Type III/IIIA waste tanks by the end of 2007. Additionally, reporting criteria has been
referenced for the inspection of the secondary containment. A copy of the revised plan has been provided
to your staff. The Department remains
committed to adjusting the inspection program as necessary should inspection
results indicate the existence of, or potential for, accelerated degradation in
the Type III/IIIA waste tanks at Savannah River.
