Radiological and Environmental Sciences Laboratory (RESL) receives A2LA assessment

The American Association of Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) completed an on-site assessment of Radiobioassay DOELAP against the relevant requirements of ILAC G-13:2000, ISO Guide 43-1:19997, ISO/IEC 17025:2005 and ISO 9001:2000. The audit report is recommending the RESL Radiobioassay DOELAP for accreditation as a Proficiency Testing Provider.

Personnel Dosimetry Test Session 2007-A

Test session 2007-A has begun and participants have been notified. Dosimeters are due at the RESL in accordance with the following schedule:

Round 1 is due no later than January 11, 2007

Round 3 is due no later than March 8, 2007.
If you have any questions regarding the test session, please contact Rich Kershisnik at the RESL Laboratory.

Radiobioassay Test Session 10 (2007)

All applications have been received, and performance testing samples are being distributed. A total of 7 laboratories are currently participating in Test Session 10. Four sites are testing in both in-vivo and in-vitro, two in in-vitro only, and one in in-vivo only.

For additional information on Test Session 10, please contact Anita Bhatt at the RESL Laboratory.

DOELAP Revising Administration and Personnel External Dosimetry Technical Standards

DOELAP is in the process of revising its Technical Standard on Administration (DOE-STD-1111-98) and Personnel Dosimetry Systems (DOE-STD-1095-95) to update them and bring them into conformance with ISO/IEC 17011-2004, Conformity assessment - General requirements for accreditation bodies accrediting conformity assessment bodies, and ISO/IEC 17025-2005, General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. DOE-STD-1095-95 will be updated to include aspects of the current ANSI/HPS N13.11-2001, Personnel Dosimetry Performance -Criteria for Testing, with DOE-specific modifications, and also to include ANSI/HPS N13.32-1995, Performance Testing of Extremity Dosimeters. Once the draft standards have completed an internal peer review process, they will be formally processed through the DOE Technical Standards Program for formal comment. It is anticipated that the standards will be available for general review and comment in the next month or so.
