Director's Message

Welcome to the Office of Security Operations

Robert M. Lingan, Acting Director

First and foremost the Office of Security Operations is a service organization. While we recognize that security is not the mission of the Department, it is a mission essential element of everything this Department does. To that end, it is incumbent upon our office to reach out and understand and support the myriad programs that comprise our Department. We will attempt to do so through a concerted effort to develop and maintain effective outreach programs that will establish a meaningful dialog between security and the programs we support.

We understand the DOE protection policies and the laws that serve as their genesis. More importantly, however, we understand the exceptions to these policies to include when and how to employ them. We will work with the programs to ensure that the policies employed are done so in the most efficient and effective manner possible.

The Office of Security Operations is comprised of a group of security professionals, both federal and contractor who are dedicated to the protection of assets entrusted to our care. We look forward to serving our DOE colleagues and the public at large in the conduct of our protective operations. We hope to set the protection standard for DOE, and in doing so create an atmosphere that is conducive to supporting the vital mission this Department serves.
