Beryllium Training

What are the Beryllium Web-based Training Courses?
Two web-based training courses on beryllium that have been developed by the Office of Environment, Safety, and Health (EH), in cooperation with the Education and Training Division of Hazards Control - Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL):
  • Beryllium Awareness
  • Beryllium Associated Worker

These courses are designed for personnel (federal and/or contractor) at Headquarters.

Which course should I take?
1. If you work at a site or will be visiting a site where beryllium activities are conducted, you must take the Beryllium Awareness course.
2. If you will be visiting a site where beryllium activities are conducted AND will be in areas where beryllium work is done you must take both the Beryllium Awareness course AND the Beryllium Associated Worker course.
OR

If you are a current worker who is or has been exposed or potentially exposed to airborne concentrations of beryllium at a DOE facility, you are considered to be a Beryllium-Associated Worker.  Beryllium-Associated Workers include:
  • Beryllium workers.
  • Current workers whose work history shows that they may have been exposed to airborne concentrations of beryllium at a DOE facility.
  • Current workers who exhibit signs or symptoms of beryllium exposure.
  • Current workers who are receiving medical removal protection benefits.
If you fall into one of the above categories, you must take the Beryllium Associated Worker course.
