Policies
Nuclear and facility safety is an integral part of all life cycle phases for the Department of Energy's many facilities. From design and construction to operation and eventual deactivation and decommissioning, safety considerations shape the technology, codes and standards, procedures, and systems, structures and components used in each of these phases.
The Office of Nuclear and Facility Safety Policy develops safety policy to establish the fundamental expectations
of the Department with respect to safety and how we will achieve it. We develop and support requirements, guidance,
technical standards, and procedures used to implement that policy. The Office of Nuclear and Facility Safety Policy supports the policies listed below. Go to http://www.directives.doe.gov to view these policies.
