Conduct of Operations

SAFETY MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS

The Office of Nuclear and Facility Safety Policy is responsible for the development of guidance, standards, orders, and rules pertaining to the conduct of operations at DOE nuclear and non-nuclear facilities. It is the policy of the Department that the conduct of operations at DOE facilities be managed with a consistent and auditable set of requirements, standards, and responsibilities that provide an acceptable level of safety. Conduct of operations requirements are established in DOE O 5480.19 and are determined by the documented safety analysis required by 10 CFR 830, Subpart B. The DOE technical standards listed below provide additional details on how to establish an acceptable conduct of operations program.
