The Office of Worker Safety and Heath Policy (HS-11) has completed an initiative to consolidate the set of 13 Implementation Guides for use with Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 835, Occupational Radiation Protection, into a single guide. The guide discusses acceptable methods for ensuring that the functional elements of radiological activities will be managed and administered in accordance with 10 CFR 835. The guide is located at: http://www.hss.energy.gov/HealthSafety/WSHP/radiation/ig.html
DOE published a final rule in the Federal Register on November 28, 2006. The final rule reflects the reorganization which created the new Office of Health, Safety and Security. The final rule makes technical amendments to DOE’s regulations to substitute the officials to whom or offices to which functions have been transferred pursuant to the reorganization of offices and functions. PDF and Word copies are available at: http://www.hss.energy.gov/HealthSafety/WSHP/radiation/rule.html
The Office of Worker Safety and Health Policy (HS-11) periodically issues Radiological Control Technical Positions (RCTPs) to clarify or provide guidance for occupational radiation protection issues. In response to a concern regarding radiological controls for special tritium compounds (STCs) HS-11 is issuing RCTP 06-01. RCTP 06-01, expands upon the guidance in RCTP 2001-02. The RCTP addresses radiological controls for STCs by providing guidance for STC accountability and posting criterion.
